If you are working on crate training your indoor puppy or dog, you can always try a few tricks. If your dog does not want to go into the crate but one of his favorite toys inside and close the door. Your dog will want the bone and will be unable to resist entering the crate. Once in the crate, let them know they did a good job by praising them.

Your training sessions must be long enough for your dog to learn the desired behavior but no so long that he becomes bored. Start by having a shorter training session and add a little more time daily. End the session as soon as your dog’s attention begins to stray.

Give your puppy some toys to chew on so they do not hurt while teething, keep other things they might want to chew on out of their reach! Immediately replace it with one of his designated chew toys. If painful teething is the problem, let the puppy chew on a wet washcloth that has been frozen.

Consistency is very important when you are crate training your puppy. The first thing to keep in mind is that you must let him use the bathroom as soon as he’s let out. As you continue this training, your pet will begin to wait until he gets to the appropriate location to relieve himself.

Do not tether two dogs close to each other. If chains get intertwined, the dogs can get hurt. Situations like this can cause dogs of various sizes to cause fatal injuries if not properly monitored. Always err on the side of caution.

Keep your dog up to date with dog training, in order to keep him or her compliant with an established set of rules. Many owners believe that once training is over, the dog will be set for life. Like their human owners, pets truly are creatures of habit. Therefore it is very important to maintain a good set of rules for your dog.

Choose an easily teachable action to train your dog with in the beginning. You will have the rush of seeing quick results, but the dog will gain a basic understanding of what good behavior means. You’ll have better results this way.

When your dog does something unacceptable, make sure that it becomes known. This won’t hurt your dog, but it will give them an uncomfortable feeling that will help teach them not to do it again. They will quickly learn to avoid doing it in order to avoid the sensation.
