Teaching your dog to poop in the proper place at the proper time is one of the most important dog training tips you can ever learn. Dogs are pack animals and will relieve themselves where they feel safe and secure. The best way to teach them this habit is to use a crate and not a simply a dog house. Crates are not just for people, dogs too need their own space. Here’s why.

A dog will relieve himself where they think they are safe and secure. This may be in their bed, in a corner, under the kitchen sink, or under your favorite chair. If you dog finds itself in a threatening situation such as a street, then they will probably need to go to the bathroom to protect themselves. A dog that is afraid of thunderstorms or dark spots will typically relieve themselves in a darkened corner of your home. Your dog’s sense of security in these circumstances will cause him/her to want to use that corner as their bathroom. That’s why it’s so important to teach your dog where they need to go to the bathroom.

You can’t train a dog not to use the toilet if you don’t introduce them to the appropriate toilet facilities first. The easiest way to do this is through positive reinforcement. You reward your dog when they follow your command by giving them a treat. This is the same thing you’d do with a child. When your child answers back to ask you a question, you reward them for it with a treat.

There are a variety of dog training tricks you can use to train your dog where and when to use the toilet. One of the best tricks for outside toilets is to have your dog on a leash and lead them to the bathroom outside. Once they get to the outside toilet, make sure they hold it while you give them the command to use the toilet. If you have more than one dog, each of them can have their own dog toilet inside the house.

A great trick for using inside toilets is to hide a treat within a dog treat bag. Have your dogs follow you and hide the dog treat in the treats bag while you tell them to “poop” using the command you just gave them. Once they have Pooped, reward them with a high-quality dog biscuit. You can also add a verbal “beep” each time they poop or a treat when they do it correctly. Your dog will quickly learn that they will get a treat for when they use the toilet correctly.

Another great trick to keep in mind is to let your dog out of the bathroom when it is full. If you’re dog sits down, let them know you are pleased with their performance, then immediately take them outside to the designated bathroom area. This ensures your dog gets lots of attention when they use the bathroom. Your dog will soon learn that they only get treats when they are doing things right and not just when they use the bathroom.

After learning how to teach a dog to poop on a regular basis, you may find you have more accidents indoors. The best way to avoid this problem is to start your training sessions early. Puppies should be taught to do their business outside at an early age so that they develop a sense of responsibility. Also, as your dog gets older you can start taking them on potty outings once or twice a month. This gives your dog the sense that you care about their personal hygiene and they can look forward to seeing you every time you take them out.

As your dog matures, they may start wanting to go out more frequently. You can continue to practice and reward them for a job well done by giving them treats. Keep these tips in mind when you decide how to teach the dog to poop outside. They will make your dog’s life a lot easier.
