It’s an excellent question and one that dog owners always ask. A dog owner will surely have no problem teaching his or her dog to do everything it can do inside the house, but what about when the dog needs to go potty outside? That is where dog training tricks come in.

It can be a lot of fun to see your dog run around doing what it wants to do, and it’s even more fun to see your dog take care of business. That’s why you should start dog training tricks early in your dog’s life. As a dog owner, you should make it a point to always let your dog go outside to do its thing. Dog poop is gross and nobody wants to deal with it, so teaching your dog to take care of business on a regular basis will not only make you and your dog look good, but will also be beneficial to everyone.

One dog training trick that has been used for years is the “doggie door”. The dog will go out and take care of business, but when you bring him back inside he’ll go right back in again. This is perfect if your dog just can’t stop going in and out of the house. In order for this trick to work properly, you must open the doggie door for your dog, but keep him in one spot. The idea is to get your dog used to being in one spot, but still having the freedom to move about. If your dog gets nervous this could backfire.

Another dog training tricks that can be used is called the “down” command. As with the “doggy door”, when you bring your dog back in, he should immediately go down on his side. It is imperative that he understand that you mean business when you call him in. Your dog will quickly learn that it is not acceptable to jump up on people, so this may backfire on you.

A third dog training trick that can be used involves teaching your dog to “go to the bathroom in one spot.” It doesn’t matter where this spot is, as long as your dog knows it. Your dog should go to the bathroom in the same spot each time you give him the command and try to keep the area clean.

You should begin the process by standing outside while your dog goes in the spot that you have provided for him. When he finishes, praise him enthusiastically and give him some dog treats to reinforce his success. Repeat this procedure outdoors until you are happy that your dog understands the entire process. If your dog does not go to the designated spot on his own, try giving him a treat and encouraging him until he goes. You can also start with just one or two designated areas indoors and move your dog into them gradually.

Your dog will never understand why you won’t let him poop at the designated spot if you don’t show him the proper signs. When he has an accident outside, immediately scoop him up in your arms and start praising him enthusiastically. Don’t scold him or yell at him, because that will only make things worse. Once he starts to understand what you’re trying to accomplish, the potty train process will become much easier.

These dog training tricks are just a few of the many that you can try in order to learn how to teach your dog to poop outside the house. You should also remember to praise your dog with dog treats every time he successfully completes his business outside. If you want to truly get results, practice often and be consistent. Your dog will eventually get the idea and the house will be so much nicer smelling and feeling!
