How to Train a Non Food Motivated Dog Obedience Dog

In this article I will talk about how to train a dog who is not motivated to eat dog food. There are many dog food motivated dog owners out there that are very successful at training dogs to eat dog food. But the sad reality is that there are many others out there who feed their dog nothing but dog food. In order to be successful you need to find a dog food that your dog likes and treats consistently. I have been watching many dogs over the years that have been forced to eat dog food from one brand or another. And sadly, most of them have either developed serious food allergies or an undiagnosed chronic dental problem.

The reason that these dogs are being forced to eat commercial dog food is because they have been taught by their dog trainers that the only dog food they can eat is the brand that is listed on the can. That is so because some dog food companies have very sneaky ways of getting their dog’s attention to sell dog food. For example, some companies will use bright, vibrant colors or a catchy name to get your dog’s attention. Others will list all of the health benefits on a dog food label, even though those things don’t really exist. They are just ways to get your dog to start thinking about dog food. After all, if we could make decisions like that, then we would never develop diabetes, obesity, or any of the other chronic health problems that our dogs are getting.

It gets even more complicated when you get to think about how the food is made. Commercial dog foods are almost always made with cheap meat, dairy products and chemicals that our dogs don’t even want to ingest. So, when the food goes bad and starts to rot it is the dog’s body doing all of the work to try to get rid of the food. This means that all of the harmful bacteria, parasites, chemicals and toxins that are in the dog food are building up in the dog’s intestines at an unnatural rate.

To properly train a non food motivated dog obedience dog you need to start by understanding exactly how food works. There are basically two different types of dog food. One type of dog food is commercially available and the other type of dog food is for humans. Dogs are actually better off eating human food because they have enzymes that dogs don’t have in their bodies that can break down these toxins. When a dog eats its food the dog’s digestive juices go down the dog’s throat and the food gets digested. At this point the enzymes are breaking down whatever toxic material, the dog has ingested.

Then there are some dogs that just won’t eat anything. If you’ve ever seen a dog that won’t eat after being wetted, then you know that it is not a happy dog. Some dogs won’t eat after being smelly. I believe that dogs are supposed to smell bad, but some just don’t smell as bad as others. You can’t force a dog to eat or any dog obedience training methods will work if the dog refuses to eat.

Dogs that don’t eat are usually suffering from another problem. They may be suffering from parasites or even a dental problem. So before you consider buying a dog food that isn’t food grade you should visit your vet and see if your dog has any type of health issue. Chances are if your dog doesn’t eat they have a health issue that needs to be addressed. Then you can buy a dog food that is considered dog food and learn how to train a non food motivated dog obedience dog.

Now that you understand how dog food works, let’s talk about how to train a non food motivated dog obedience dog. Dogs that don’t eat need to be fed so you will need to make sure you purchase dog food that is specifically formulated for dogs not people. The dog should be given ample time to eat their fill before you feed them again. This gives them ample time to process all the food so when they do go hungry they are satisfied. If you constantly feed them after they’ve eaten their fill then they will only get hungry again.

Once a dog understands how to eat dog food, they will be happy and stay with you longer because they know when they are to get fed. You must be consistent with how often you feed them otherwise they will learn to become dependent on you and refuse to eat unless they are given something else. If you want to know how to train a non food motivated dog obedience dog you need to start by choosing dog food that is specific to dogs. Your dog will love you more for it.
