Dog Training Tips and Tricks

Every Owner of Dogs Should Know It

Secrets of Having a Good Pet from AnimalsMart Basic Training

So I just got back from PetsMart Basic Training and am enjoying the new found obedience training with my dog. The employees at this store are very professional and did not hesitate to help when needed. When I first walked in, the clerk that was working with me immediately recognized me by her voice. She motioned for me to her, and then beckoned me over. She informed me that the dog training tips were located in the back of the store.

I was intrigued by the fact that she beckoned me over without showing any form of recognition. But as soon as I got over my initial surprise, I realized something. That same clerk was one of the reason I became a pet owner in the first place. Back in HS, we had a cute little dachshund namesake that belonged to our assistant professor.

We worked very hard during those days to learn lots of new things. And one day, our dear assistant professor came home from an event and wanted to cook up a big pot of chili for us. The only problem was, our pet chow (as she was called) didn’t like chili very much. So we ended up watching her every day, as she struggled through her meal.

That’s when I decided to join a petsmart basic training class. I joined because I wanted to get some good advice on how to train my new dog. Well, I wasn’t far off. I was actually a month older than my dog when I joined petsmart basic training.

Now that I am a month older, I am proud to say that I have learned allot about dog training. I was able to catch up in a hurry, so to speak, and I still learn allot. Now my dog is much calmer. She follows me around the house, stays in bed when I tell her to, and generally acts the way a true creature of habit would do. And I have never had to chase after my feb.

As far as the actual training goes, I used the formal training method taught by PetsMart. This way, the dog trainer can be seen by other users of the PetsMart facility. I am not quite sure that this worked better than the informal methods, but I didn’t bother to find out. I prefer doing it the normal way, because it gives me and my dog the advantage we need for training purposes.

I also made myself a few posts under the heading of feb chow and posted the PetsMart coupon. I got a fair amount of replies and I am happy to say, people were actually taking notes and giving me tips on how to become a better owner. The big dogs under the taz ring 1 posts were kind of intimidated by this sudden onslaught of information and tips, so they wisely remained low key. That’s how I got my first dog, a tiny Doberman-German shepherd, named Gemini. That dog became my best friend. She is now eleven years old and has since become an even bigger dog, now with a full slate of tricks.

I am posting this to let you know that, even if you don’t want a dog anymore, you might still want a cat. Cats love to chew and they are much easier to train than dogs. If you don’t want a dog, I would suggest you join some dog training groups in your area. And if you already have a dog and want to raise it to a better life, then the best tool you could use to do so would be a dog training book or e-book.
