It is widely acknowledged that the better trained your puppy is, the higher quality of a relationship the two of you will enjoy. A properly trained and socialized puppy can have a dramatic impact on the amount of happiness in your life. If you want to have a better bond with your puppy, keep reading.

Tips #1 Rewarding With Treats

Rewarding dogs properly and generously is the key to training. Treats are great to give your dog when he does something good, but timing is very important when doing so. By giving treats at the proper time, you’ll ensure that your dog understands which behavior it’s being rewarded for.

Be sure to feed your dog healthy foods and treats. A poor diet will negatively affect your dog’s skin, eyes, muscles, bones and joints. Not only is it unhealthy, it can affect the way they behave. Improving your dog’s diet will also improve its mental capacity.

Make sure that the only items your dog can reach are chew toys that are specifically made for dogs. Offer your puppy a variety of acceptable items to chew on. If painful teething is the problem, let the puppy chew on a wet washcloth that has been frozen.

Tips #2 Proper Balance Between Obeying Commands And Freedom

As you progress with your dog’s training, you should begin to give it more and more freedom. Maintaining a proper balance between obeying your commands and having some freedom will lead to a happier dog. Be sure not to give them too much since this can counteract training efforts.

Tips #3 Grooming Hygiene

Grooming is very important. Be sure to research any special grooming and hygiene requirements associated with the breed of your dog. Certain breeds do not need much grooming, whereas others requires detailed, regular grooming. When the dog is well groomed, it is happy and healthy.

Tips #4 Positive Name

You should use the name of your dog as a positive reinforcement more often than you use it as a reprimand. He should know his name isn’t associated with something bad.

Tips #5 Correct Signal

Your dog is relying on you to signal when he is right and wrong. If you show amusement to your pet when he is doing something that he should not do, he will probably repeat that behavior again. This will delay your training and it could lead to frustration. No matter whether or not your dog is entertaining, you need to consistently correct them.

If you catch your puppy chewing on something he isn’t suppose to be chewing, stop him immediately. When your puppy knows what he is allowed to chew on, he is less likely to chew on your belongings when left to his own devices.

So, you do not have accidents inside; find out what your dog’s signals are. Most dogs go through a serious of behaviors when they need to go to the bathroom. When you know what to look for, you’ll avoid all accidents. When you know what your dog does, you’ll be able to react to the signs quicker.

Tips #6 Get Them Neutered

When your dog is six months old, get them neutered or spayed. You should do this at the same time you first take the dog to obedience training. Any dog not “fixed” will be very excitable and easily distracted in obedience sessions. You will have a lot more happy years with your dog, and your dog will have a happier, healthier life.

Tips #7 Well Fed

To prevent your dog from digging in the trash, be sure he is well-fed and has plenty of toys to play with. Also, take trash out regularly and keep tempting things like bones out of it. Make sure your dog is crated whenever you leave the house, or else empty out our trash.

When teaching a dog to sit, get to stand, and then hold up a treat above them. As you allow the treat to move into his field of vision, your hand will slowly pass behind him. He will look upwards as he follows your hand. When a dog does this, it is natural for them to sit.

Use treats your dog really loves to achieve maximum training efficiency. Cheese, hot dogs or other normally taboo treats can be used as a reward for a job well done.

It might surprise many people to find that the difficulties and stress of training a dog, are not as severe as they believe. Simple changes to our behavior and techniques can bring a big improvement to our dogs behavior.
