Tips on How to Train a Brand New Hound

If you’re looking for a great training tip to teach your dog, look no further than Branden MacMills. A dog trainer since he was a little boy, Branden started dog training at a very young age because his family had four Labradors. He learned the hard way that dogs respond better to positive reinforcement than punishment, but he has also used his knowledge and experience to create many dog training tricks that are highly successful. Here are just a few examples:

One dog training trick that Branden knows well is teaching “sit.” A dog training masterclass that he recently participated in taught him this one-minute trick that involved taking his dog’s lower rear into the sitting position, then allowing him to sit down. Branden emphasized that it’s important to remain consistent with the sitting-down part of this dog training trick and that it’s best to work with one dog at a time. After the dog finishes the one-minute sitting task, he must be allowed to stand up and follow exactly the same instructions again.

Another dog training trick from Branden’s dog training masterclass involves the “crant” command. This command requires that the dog or puppy to be close by while you say the word Cracistle. As the dog approaches you, he should “crant” each time toward the door or gate. When he reaches the far side of the gate, he should “crant” again. You might want to start this command with two dogs next time because some dogs aren’t very keen when it comes to “cranting.”

Another helpful dog training trick from the Brandon McMillan dog trainer’s dog training class involves “time out.” Again, this is a one-time command. When the dog gets down on his hands and knees, you simply tell him to “sit.” The dog should stay in place for the period of time you choose.

In the masterclass, the dog training tricks include more detailed instruction on more than just basic commands. For example, there was a lesson about the proper way to handle aggressive or fearful dogs. A dog’s owner was shocked when her pit bull ripped off the family’s furniture when she went to leave for the day. Through the masterclass, she was taught how to use positive reinforcement and teach her dog to deal appropriately with such situations. Other topics covered during the dog training course included leash training and other behavioral issues.

You might think that with all the science behind dog training, dog trainers would have all the answers. And there certainly are experts who do know everything. However, not all dog trainers have the ability to relate to humans. As a result, some dog training courses are being offered online. If you have your own dog, you can take advantage of these online dog training programs. The same applies if you are trying to get your dog to behave properly in a social situation – you can take advantage of online dog training programs to learn how to communicate properly with your pet.

If you want to make it even easier, try looking for a course like the one outlined in the above link. It provides a variety of tips on how to handle dogs of different ages, as well as different temperaments. Bear in mind, however, that you will need to spend some one time on the internet to access the tips presented in the course. But if you are consistent with your efforts and put some effort into learning and applying the tips, your pet will quickly learn a great deal.

If you have a dog that has behavioral issues, you may want to consider consulting an expert such as the famous author, B.A. Milan. In her best-seller, How To Be Your Dog’s Best Friend, she shares with wonderful tips on how to solve dog training problems. She advocates owning a dog similar to yourself, one that has similar characteristics and habits, in order to best understand your dog’s needs and to respond accordingly. Based on the results of her research, she believes that one of the best ways to solve behavioral issues is through reward training, which she terms “habit reversal”.
