If you’ve never trained a puppy before, it may seem like a daunting task. Since there are many different training techniques, you may feel confused on what is best. Here are some smart tips to get you started with effective puppy training.

Tips 1- Quickly And Concisely Correction

When you verbally correct your puppy, do it quickly and concisely. Yelling and screaming at your puppy is counterproductive. Firmly say no and redirect them. The tone of your voice should let them know you are serious about the command you are making.

Your puppy may not learn a command right away. It’s very likely to take many repetitions of one command in order for your puppy to fully understand it. Be patient and say the same command in the same way each time. Your puppy will learn eventually.

Tips 2- Proper Size of Crate

Pick the proper size crate for your puppy if you want to be able to effectively use the crate to train it. Don’t forget, your puppy will grow. Find a crate big enough for your adult puppy. Your puppy needs to have the room to get around the crate and not feel cramped.

Tips 3- Up To Date Training

Your puppy needs to be up to date on his training. This will help to make them more obedient. It is easy to feel that once your puppy’s training is over, the lessons are learned and will stay with the puppy forever. Pets, just like humans, need to be reminded of the rules now and then. This is why you must make sure that you have a rule system that is strict for your puppy.

Training your pet to roll over very easy. Just remember to have treats in hand. You can have your dog sit or roll over. Afterward, bring the treat above the dogs head and follow over to their other side. He should follow the treat with his nose, causing him to roll his whole body over. When they roll over, yell “roll over.” Keep doing this until they do it just with the command. Make sure you are patient because this is likely to take several attempts. However, your dog will eventually learn this command.

Tips 4- Regular Exercise

Your dog requires at least one hour of exercise every day. Without adequate exercise, your dog will find it difficult to focus during your training sessions. A dog is happy when it gets it exercise and a happy dog follows orders.

Tips 5- Train Your Dog In Positive Manner

Train your dog in a positive manner. Give your dog positive reinforcement if they do a good job. Don’t ever yell at or hit your dog. This makes the dog think you are imbalanced. Stay consistent and use positive reinforcement.

You have to train your dog not to bark when you don’t want them to. If your dog barks, repeat the order, offer a treat when they stop barking and pet them to show you are satisfied. Give them a treat. This positive reinforcement will help to get your dog to learn.

Tips 6- Specific Grooming

Inform yourself on any specific grooming issues with your breed. Weekly or monthly grooming may be necessary for breeds with longer hair; other breeds may be satisfied with a bath only occasionally. Grooming your dog is generally a pleasant experience for the dog, resulting in a happier, cleaner dog and the extra attention will put you in the position of noticing any health problems your dog may develop.

Tips 7- Reinforce Good Behavior

Understand that your every action is teaching your dog and shaping his personality. If you send your dog the wrong message with teasing or roughhousing, he may have problems interpreting your actions and acting accordingly. Try to reinforce good behavior at all moments.

Tips 8- Enough Food And Toys

A dog who has access to enough food and toys for entertainment is much less likely to dig through your trashcans. Make sure that you take out your trash frequently, and try to keep things that your dog will not be able to resist out of there. Crate your dog or empty your trash can if you plan on going out.

Tips 9- Praise Good Behavior

Use positive reinforcements to train your pet. You have to praise good behavior while not focusing on the bad behavior. Using negative enforcement could cause your dog to fear you. Positive reinforcement tactics will make your dog want to please you.

These training tips are applicable to many situations. Use them when you plan a regimen for training your dog. They can make your training successful, so that both you and your dog are happy.
